'Love our Waterways' photo comp winners announced
Snappers have been busy taking snaps.
Judges have been busy judging.
And the winners have most definitely won in the West Gippsland Catchment Management Water for the Environment photo competition.
“The idea was to remind people how wonderful our rivers are and perhaps encourage a few to visit places like the Thomson, the Macalister and Latrobe as well as the wetland areas that surround some of these waterways,” said CEO of the West Gippsland Catchment management Authority, Mr Martin Fuller.
“Judging by the list of winners, we’ve certainly been successful in that regard as some wonderful images have been entered and a ‘top five’ selected as winners in various categories,” added Martin.
Entrants were asked to take photographs from one of several locations to enter into the competition.
All the waterways listed are have an allocation of water under Water for the Environment program which sees managed flows form a storage released into a river or wetland. The goal being to assist the river in its environmental needs and to maintain the waterway in as good as condition as possible.
The overall winner is Will Lawrey with his wonderful picture taken at sunset at the Dowd Morass, which benefits from inflows from the Latrobe River.
