Entries open for 2019 Gippsland calendar competition

Amateur photographers can help promote the #lovegippsland message by submitting photographs showcasing our region’s natural beauty for Darren Chester’s annual calendar.

The Nationals Member for Gippsland Darren Chester has today launched this year’s calendar competition, with a theme ‘Four Seasons’.

Locals are being encouraged to submit photos showcasing Gippsland locations that could be destinations for tourists and day-trippers.

The 13 best entries will be included in Mr Chester’s annual #lovegippsland calendar. More than 20,000 copies of the calendar to be distributed free of charge to showcase the region.

The top three entries will receive accommodation prizes donated by Frog Gully Cottages Longford, Bridges on Argyle Traralgon and Beachcomber Caravan Park Mallacoota.

“Our region is blessed with many natural and man-made attractions to provide inspiration for entrants,” Mr Chester said.

“The calendar will showcase iconic locations and the amazing natural views that many locals take for granted.

“The project helps to bring more visitors to Gippsland to support local business; and is also a timely reminder for locals about the amazing opportunities that exist right here in our backyard.

“I encourage local residents to consider day-trips and to take weekend breaks within the Gippsland region and to support local businesses and small communities.

“Remember every time you spend money in Gippsland you are helping to create more jobs for young people into the future.”

Mr Chester urged Gippslanders to use the upcoming September school holiday break to explore Gippsland while capturing their favourite scenes for calendar entry. He encouraged photographers to upload their photos to social media using the hashtag #lovegippsland.

To enter the lovegippsland calendar competition, upload your photo to www.darrenchester.com.au If photos are selected they must be available in a higher resolution of 4MB at 300dpi. Photos should be landscape orientation as per the calendar’s shape. Entrants will be required to provide their name, home town and contact details together with a photo caption. Entries close Friday, October 5, at 5pm and are limited to two entries per person.
