No lifts yet at Hotham

Mount Hotham has pushed back the start of its snow season again due to the NSW border closure and a return to stage 3 restrictions in Melbourne.

The Hotham Resort Authority says the decision to not run the lifts wasn't made lightly but says they are focused on the health and safety of visitors and employees.

All lift ticket, lesson and rental reservations at Hotham will be refunded and the authority says it will keep evaluating the viability of opening the season.

The Hotham Resort Authority released this statement:

Due to the Stage 3 COVID-19 restrictions for the state of Victoria and the border closure with NSW, we have made the difficult decision to suspend lift operations at Hotham and Falls Creek, effective Thursday 9 July through at least until 19 August.

We recognise the impact this has on our guests, employees and communities and did not make this decision lightly. However, we are focused first and foremost on health and safety, following local health guidelines and doing our part to support efforts across Victoria to address the recent rise in coronavirus cases.

We will continue to assess the situation, follow the guidelines of the state health authorities in evaluating if it is advisable or feasible to reopen either resort this season. Perisher remains open and is unaffected by this decision.

All lift ticket, lesson and rental reservations at Hotham and Falls Creek will be refunded with no requirement for guests to contact us. Thank you for your patience and understanding as we continue to navigate through this incredibly challenging time. Learn more here bit.ly/LiftOpsSuspended
