SES urges Gippslanders to read local flood guides

With predicted rainfall to be higher than average during this spring, Victoria State Emergency Service (VICSES) is advising everyone to become familiar with their Local Flood Guide.

“Local Flood Guides are produced for communities which have a higher risk of flooding” said Jane Fontana, Community Resilience Coordinator.

“They have a map and information that will help you to make key decisions and think about the actions you need to take should you be faced with a flood."

Some of the information included in a Local Flood Guide covers local flooding (past and present), a map, what to do before, during and after a flood, key contacts and where to go for additional information.

“These really are handy little booklets and I encourage everyone to visit the VICSES website to see if there is one for their town,” Jane said.
