Opening of BARC redevelopment fast approaching
Construction of the Bairnsdale Aquatic and Recreation Centre redevelopment is nearing completion with principal contractor Brooker Builders and their tradies working tirelessly to get the job complete.
Council had anticipated the facility would be fully open to the public by Easter this year; based on the current construction timeline it is more realistic that the facility will be available for public use in early to mid-May.
Council’s Director Development Paul Holton said both the defects inspection and the final building inspection (for the issuing of a Certificate of Occupancy) are scheduled to occur in late April.
“Council officers anticipate that minor works, including addressing building defects and refurbishing the current change room, will continue once the building is open to the public,” Mr Holton said.
An official opening for the project is currently being planned for June.
