Six Gippsland Power Players will attend the National Draft Combine in October

Six of Gippsland Power's U18 players will head to Melbourne in the first week of October, for the AFL's National Draft Combine.

Sam Flanders, Caleb Serong, Brock Smith, Riley Baldi, Charlie Comben and Fraser Phillips were the players to receive invites, who also made up six of the nine power players to represent the club with Victoria Country in the Under 18 National Championships.

Nationwide 79 players have been lucky enough to receive invitations, with 45 of those coming through the NAB League system.

Gippsland Power was equal with the Oakleigh Chargers with six invitees, behind the Sandringham Dragons who had a whopping ten players in the initial list.

AFL Clubs are asked to each select a list of their 50 preferred players to attend the Combine, with invitees all receiving nominations from at least four clubs.

The Combine will assess each player’s strength and skills through several tests including the 20-metre sprint, agility test and vertical jump.

A number of power players will also be in line for selection for the State Combine, which is set to be announced in August.
