Jack Frost greets Gippslanders

Gippsland has the coldest temperatures in the state this morning.

Major centres including the Latrobe Valley, Sale, Yarram and Bairnsdale have recorded -2°.

A Frost Warning covers the region again today.

Central Gippsland has had similar morning temperatures since the weekend. However senior forecaster at the Bureau of Meteorology, Keris Arndt, said after one more morning like that, temperatures will lift a little.

"Tonight is probably going to be another cool one," Keris said.

"So tomorrow morning there's probably going to be more frosts around - another clear night with light winds.

"Thursday still chilly with many Gippsland centres still dropping to, say, 1 degree. Perhaps a couple of places to zero or just below.

"After that, Friday is up into the low single digits and that trend will continue as we see more cloud cover come across on the weekend."

For farmers looking for rain, there's a high chance of showers on Saturday.
