Overnight house fire being investigated

Police are treating a fire at an unoccupied home in Morwell overnight as suspicious.

Investigations are underway as to the cause of the fire which extensively damaged the Gillies Crescent house.

Emergency services were called at around 2am.

From Victoria Police

A man was airlifted to hospital in Melbourne with serious burns, following a house fire in Drouin on Saturday morning.

Police say the blaze started shortly after 3am at a home on Main South Road.

The man was the only occupant home at the time.

The house was extensively damaged.

The exact cause of the fire is yet to be established, however it is not being treated as suspicious at this stage.

A police fire investigator was called in.

Police are keen to speak to anyone who may have information and particularly to a man who made the emergency call to Triple Zero.
