Victorians are encouraged to get tested, but at the moment that does not mean absolutely everyone can get tested, wherever they are.
Here’s the latest info about testing at BRHS.
We are following the state’s current direction on testing, which is:
If you have any of these symptoms, however mild, you should get tested.
- Chills or sweats
- Sore or scratchy throat
- Shortness of breath
- Runny nose
- Loss of sense of smell
Currently, members of the community that do not have any symptoms (asymptomatic) cannot be tested at BRHS.
This is important in order to make best use of the supplies needed to conduct tests.
Asymptomatic healthcare and aged care workers can be tested.
POP-UP TESTING FOR PEOPLE WITHOUT SYMPTOMS
You may have heard on the news that some health services around the state have been selected to host pop-up testing sites for people that do not have any symptoms.
This is not currently happening in the Bairnsdale area.
To be tested for COVID-19 at BRHS you must have symptoms, unless you are a health care or aged care worker.
TESTING AT BRHS AND IN THE AREA
Drive through testing is available at BRHS Day St. Campus (near the main hospital entrance) between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m., 7 days a week.
Drive to the main carpark in front of the hospital and follow the signposted instructions. You must stay in your car.
There are other testing sites in this community.
We’re gathering a list of the testing sites that we know of in the BRHS service area at www.brhs.com.au/Coronavirus
(This is not a definitive list – just the sites we’ve been able to gather information about. Please call ahead to confirm that testing is happening at these sites.)
You are encouraged to call your local GP if you have any questions about testing sites in your community.
