The historic gold mining town of Walhalla will be closed this long weekend which would normally a busy time for the 100 percent tourism town. There has been substantial damage after destructive winds and flooding from more 200mm of rain. And power is still off in the area.
AusNet Services says they're working to restore power to homes and businesses across the region, but for some it may not be until Sunday. In some places, fallen trees are hindering access to power infrastructure and Emergency Management personnel are asking residents to be patient.

Telstra is providing an assistance package for Traralgon customers who lost services in the bad weather and to keep those displaced from homes and businesses connected. The package will provide access to free and interim services during the recovery period
Retailers at Traralgon Centre Plaza will be fully operational today despite the flooding of the centre's underground car park putting it out of action. However there is plenty of parking outside.
