Sharon Schofield the State Coordinator for Youth in Search, will be based at the Stockland Shopping Centre on Thursday's in an attempt to engage with local youth in the area.
"You'll see my car out the front and I've got a desk in there, where I'll be working with young people that are in there, trying to help engage them back into the community"
"Whether its school or work, with all the other wonderful services that are in the area like Quantom, Berry Street, Anglicare, YSAS, Mind and all the support services that we have, we're just trying to engage them and get them back in the community"
Sharon has been active in the area over the past month speaking with youth in the area, and has already had some positive conversations.
"So they're feeling like they're not belonging somewhere, they're either trying to get back to school or want to get a job but they just don't know how and feel like the cards are stacked up against them, they just want that advocate who can get in there for them"
"So its about getting in there and giving them somebody on their side to help them connect back with their community so they can get back to those better futures"
"What I say to them is I can't go back to the start and make a new beginning, but I can start from now and we can make a new ending".
Youth Insearch also conduct weekend workshops, with the latest held last weekend at Forest Edge, with youth from across the state working with extensively trained youth leaders and adult facilitators.
